Pinnacle Care celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2017

6th Mar 2017

Pinnacle Care was first formed in August 2000. However, its origins go back to 1987 when its first home was formed by one of the current directors, Virginia Bowen, and the decision was made to "foster" elderly people with dementia into her family home.

Later, she realised that there were vulnerable people with dementia in the community who needed more assistance than the three calls a day provided by care in the community but who did not need 24 hour care. The home was made available for people to come and visit on a daily basis.

In 1995, as the family and the need for more availability of 24 hour care accommodation grew, the family moved to Cherry Trees in Dunchurch Road, Rugby. As well as offering placements for older people with dementia, adults with other mental health needs, such as schizophrenia, were also welcomed. Eventually the home was occupied by Virginia and Alan, four children, a variety of pets and eleven guests, all of whom lived together as a family.

Virginia was the Registered Manager at Cherry Trees until March 2001. During 2000 and 2001 the waiting list at Cherry Trees grew larger and so Sedlescombe Park was purchased in 2001. The model of care continued to prove effective and enabled individuals to lead fulfilling and worthwile lives. Pinnacle Care now operates six residential homes in and around Rugby, Warwickshire and continues to provide exemplary care under its ethos of recreating the family culture, just as it started in 1987.

In March of 2017 Pinnacle Care will welcome its 30th Anniversary. Keep an eye out for more information about our celebratory plans at Wolston!
